First the ones I would not be caucusing for if I lived in Iowa.
Rick Perry- Does great in commercials but once the script is gone I get that same feeling right before he speaks that I had with Bush…a very unsettling one at that. Kind of looks like Bush too. Way too many bad memories whenever I see this “tough talkin Texan.” And like Bush, his commitment to conservatism is highly questionable. Glad he signed the USA Personhood Pledge recently. The best thing he could do in 2012 as governor is abide by his pledge and end all child murder in Texas by helping pass Personhood. Better yet, he could just enforce the 14th Amendment’s “due process” and “equal protection” clauses as he is constitutionally obligated to do and end child murder now given he is on record stating that human life begins at the very moment of fertilization!
Rick Santorum- Phenomenally inspiring personal family story and one of the strongest pro-family/ pro-life candidates and the only candidate with the courage in the debates to expose Romney’s unilateral, illegal and unconstitutional implementation of same-sex “marriage” . (which the “fair and balanced” media have just coincidentally ignored). But his endorsements of pro-aborts Arlen Specter, Christie Todd Whitman, and the Founding Father of same-sex “marriage,” the $50 co-pay abortion, and socialist healthcare, Mitt Romney (over significantly more conservative Mike Huckabee, in 08’) is really tough to swallow. 3 endorsements of liberal pro-aborts is 3 too many in my book.
Newt Gingrich- The most articulate candidate in the race and the only one with an authentic plan to rein in the judiciary. His recent signing of the USA Personhood Pledge is also a positive. And while I can get over the Pelosi commercial on Al Gore’s “global warming” initiative which Gingrich now claims was a big mistake, his negatives are too numerous to overlook including his membership in the globalist Council on Foreign Relations, his endorsement of pro-abortion, pro-homosexual tax and spend liberal RINO ACORN-backed Dee Dee Scozaffava (recipient of the Planned Parenthood “Margaret Sanger Award” in 2008) over the across the board conservative Republican tea party favorite, Doug Hoffman in the N.Y. 23rd District Congressional race, leaving his dying wife on her death bed while she was dying of cancer for another younger woman, recently working with anti-Semitic Al Sharpton to promote Obama’s new healthcare initiatives which includes increased funding for the unconstitutional Department of Education, his statement in 1995 at the Center for Strategic and International Affairs, that, “The American challenge in leading the world is compounded by our Constitution…Under our [constitutional system] — either we’re going to have to rethink our Constitution, or we’re going to have to rethink our process of decision-making,” and his recent failure to sign the Iowa Christian pro-family Family Leader’s marriage pledge which I don’t know how any genuine pro-family Christian would not sign.
Ron Paul- Right on the fed, rolling back the welfare state, and nation building. But that is where we part ways. I as a Christian can’t vote for anybody who thinks individual states possess the authority to alienate the inalienable right to life, that sodomy isn’t a sin, who has no problem with homosexual “marriage,” who supports legalizing hard drugs such as heroin, cocaine as well as prostitution, and who has no real issues with Islamic Jihadists in Iran getting a hold of nukes which it has announced it plans to wipe Israel off the map with. Proof
Mitt Romney- The most far left across the board liberal governor in the history of the Republic. Hands down. Pathetic so many celebrity conservatives like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham continue to support this total fraud.
As governor, Willard Mitchell Romney: Unilaterally, illegally & unconstitutionally instituted same-sex “marriage” falsely claiming the “court ordered him to,” signed the forerunner to Obamacare (Romneycare) into law which includes $50 tax-subsidized elective surgical abortions including late-term abortions into law (3 years AFTER his fake “pro-life conversion,” boosted funding for homosexual “education” starting in kindergarten, opposes a ban on homosexual scoutmasters, promised the homosexual Republican “Log Cabin Republicans” he wouldn’t oppose “gay marriage” in return for their endorsement, instituted a quasi socialist healthcare plan endorsed by Hillary Clinton, Teddy Kennedy, Barack Obama and Planned Parenthood that destroyed the Massachusetts’ economy, forced Catholic Charities, the nation’s #1 adoption and foster care service to place children with same sex couples even though he was under no legal obligation to do so as even former Governor Michael Dukakis has acknowledged, increased taxes and fees by close to a billion dollars which destroyed the Massachusetts’ economy and opposed the Bush Tax Cuts, voted # 8 RINO by Human Events, passed over Republican lawyers for three quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he faced and nominated 2 open homosexuals, criticized Joint Chief’s of Staff, Peter Pace for saying that homosexual acts were “immoral,” supports passage at the state level of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act which would force churches and other religious organizations to hire homosexuals and transvestites or face criminal fines and prosecution, supported McCain-Feingold “campaign finance reform”, McCain-Kennedy “comprehensive immigration reform” (i.e. amnesty), and parts of the McCain-Lieberman “carbon cap and trade” bill. Proof Does anything more really need to be said?
And now the one candidate I would be caucusing for if I lived in Iowa….
Michelle Bachmann- Of all the candidates, she has the most authentic Christian conservative worldview philosophy and record. I disagree with her support for the USA Patriot Act and hope as president she would help to substantially reform it. I also have opposed her support of abortion regulations such as the immoral and unconstitutional Ohio “Heartbeat Bill” that codifies into law that it is ok to kill pre-born babies (that the bill itself acknowledges are living human beings) without “detectable heartbeats.” But I applaud her recent signing on to the USA Personhood Pledge and am hopeful that as president she would fulfill her promise to enforce the inalienable right to life for all innocent persons from fertilization to natural death when individual states fail to do so (which happens to be the case, sadly enough, in all 50 states).
Bachmann is one of the only candidates to acknowledge that America’s economic problems are the result of our moral/spiritual decline and has not only vowed to end the Abortion Holocaust by supporting Personhood but also to champion a federal marriage amendment. That being said, life and marriage are nowhere to be found on her website’s “issues page” so I do have some reservations as to how much of a priority actually ending abortion (as opposed to regulating it) and protecting marriage would be in a Bachmann administration.
On the economic issues, Bachmann, a former tax attorney, who is the head of the Congressional “Tea Party Caucus” who vehemently opposed TARP is rock solid, and I have no doubt she would energetically champion tax cuts, massive spending cuts, and the repeal of Obamacare to help stimulate economic growth and deficit reduction.
Moreover, I believe she would also be a “peace through strength” foreign policy hawk in the mold of Thatcher and Reagan. She has proven she can win highly contested elections in a blue state and have no doubt she possesses the “fire in the belly” to go toe to toe with Obama in a national election more so than any other candidate barring Gingrich who would definitely be a formidable debate opponent.
At this point, if I were living in Iowa, given the very weak GOP field, I would be caucusing for Michelle Bachmann on January 3rd.
Some may say, “But Gregg, Bachmann isn’t one of the ‘frontrunners.’”
I don’t care.
