God’s Word cannot contradict itself.
If there are over 200 verses in the Bible that says salvation & justification is by God’s grace alone through faith alone in The Eternally Existing Son of God, God The Son, Jesus Christ alone, then there must be a logical explanation for the 1 or 2 odd verses that may SEEM to contradict them when read in proper context.
I’ve provided a list of what I consider to be the main false teachings that are the most frequently propagated and the Biblical refutations for each one to help encourage and edify The Body.
May we carefully heed the vital words of wisdom that God’s Holy Spirit inspired Paul to pen in his Second Letter to young Timothy when we handle God’s holy, infallible, innerant & authoritative Word:
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15) KJV
Be encouraged today!!!!
The false teacher: “You must prove you are saved by your works.”
God’s Word: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. This is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God. Not by works lest any man should boast.” (EPHESIANS 2:8-9) KJV
The false teacher: “You must overcome till the end by continuing to obey the commandments to be saved.”
God’s Word: “Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1st JOHN 5:5) KJV
The false teacher: “You are saved by grace through faith but you must do your part to be saved & can lose your salvation if you don’t.”
God’s Word: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall NEVER perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and NO MAN is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.” (John 10:27-30) KJV
The false teacher: “You must turn from all your sins and stop sinning and believe in Jesus to be saved.”
God’s Word: “For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever would BELIEVE in Him would not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) KJV
*Neither Jesus nor any of His disciples or apostles ever told anyone NOT ONE SINGLE TIME EVER they needed to “turn from their sins,” “stop sinning” or “repent of their sins” to BE saved.
The false teacher: “If you continue to willfully sin after you are saved you can lose your salvation or is proof you were never saved to begin with.”
God’s Word: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (1st John 1:8) KJV
*The only requirement for salvation is to BELIEVE The Gospel (that Christ died for all your sins, was buried and rose again on the 3rd Day according to the Scriptures justifying YOU in the eyes of God;-)
The false teacher: “You can stop believing in Jesus and lose your salvation.”
God’s Word: “If we believe not, yet He abideth faithful: He cannot deny Himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13)
*Our faith may grow weak, But His never does. He who saves us keeps us saved forever!!!
The false teacher: “God can change His mind if you sin too much and take away your salvation.”
God’s Word: “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” (Romans 11:29) KJV
*salvation is a free gift a person receives the instant (NANOSECOND) they trust in the finished redemptive work of Jesus Christ ALONE for the remission of all their sins and eternal life and once that gift is received, God promises He will never repent (change His Mind).
The false teacher: “Christ is coming for a sinless righteous Bride. If you have sin in your life you will be miss the rapture and be cast into outer darkness.”
God’s Word: “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference.” (Romans 3:22) KJV
*A believer has no righteousness apart from the imputed righteousness of Christ.
The false teacher: “You must live a life of obedience and do good works to be saved.”
God’s Word: “Then said they unto Him (Jesus), What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?Jesus answered and said unto them, ‘This is THE work of God, that ye believe on Him whom He hath sent.'” (John 6:28-29) KJV
* The ONLY work required for any person to be saved is to trust in Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior and if you have not done so, I pray that you would today!
To be saved forever:
Admit you are a sinner in need of a savior.
Believe that Jesus Christ is THE Savior for all mankind Who died for all YOUR sins, was buried and rose again on the 3rd Day according to the Scriptures. (1st Corinthians 15:1-4)
Call upon the Name of The Lord. “For ALL who call on the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ WILL be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
